Uh oh, BobCat's Helping Knit again...

...and he's got his partner in crime he's trying to teach the ropes to:

Tessie is more interested in the camouflage aspect of my new Saga.  Yes, that's right, my new Saga.  I've knit another one, but this one is less "saga" than the first one.  Let's just say I still had a bit of momentum on from the last one.  This is the neutral version, and I'm in looooove.

I need just a day or so more to finish it, but it's coming along, and I won't stop until it's finished.

My knitting resolution for 2012 is going to stick, I hope!

I wonder if it's a cat world rule that tortoiseshell cats have to copy ginger and white ones. That's exactly what happens in our house too!

Happy knitting, you've obviously got bags more patience than I have.

I am SOOOO impressed by your beautiful sweaters. I'm starting to think I'd like to wear a bit more wool and a bit less polyester fleece, so maybe it's time for me to dig out my needles and get to work. The first sweater I ever knit (and I think I've knit 3? 4? Ancient history!) was one made with Lopi wool on circular needles, and although I have no idea what happened to it, I still remember the pleasure of the process, and my satisfaction in the result.

Without sounding totally lame, can I confess that one of the reasons I have mostly worn fleece in the last few years is what a pain I find washing and blocking wool sweaters? Any tips for me?

Glad you made it through The Great Wind Storm in one piece!

Hi Demelza, it's so cute how Tessie defers to BobCat, but you'll notice, in the second photo, Bob's legs are visible. He let her have the best spot! Too funny..

Oh Miriam, I am so in love with my Lopi - you are right, it was quite the rage, ummm, 30 years ago LOL! I remember my Mom getting on the Lopi band-wagon way back when, and the entire family got Lopi sweaters. It's funny, but they're timeless. Lopi's come out with a lot of nice new patterns, and if you can put up with a wee bit of itchiness, it's a dream fabric - so warm and water-repellent. Your climate was made for it!

With regards to washing and blocking - I use a special wool wash called Eucalan, available in probably any wool store. Simply fill your washing machine (yes!), add sweater and Eucalan, and let it SOAK, not wash. 15 minutes should do it, depending on the severity of dirt, then spin dry and lay flat to dry. I gently tug my sweaters into shape, and as soon as my back is turned, a cat will immediately jump on said sweater and help the drying process. I have no clue what it is with cats and wet wool - like a moth to the flame!

Lopi is insanely dirt-repellent. It's like there's still so much lanolin in the wool that it's almost self-cleaning.

Have I sold you on the idea of taking out your knitting needles yet LOL?

Thanks Linda, much appreciated! But I have to admit the second one was much less intimidating than the first. Mind you, it's not steeked yet, but it was a much easier knit, helped by the fact I didn't put it down until it was done!
