Majestical Magical Snow

From time to time, when meteorological conditions cooperate, we open the blinds to a winter wonderland created by hoarfrost:

The scenery is just magical, and the sheer beauty surrounding us is breath-taking.  It's as though every branch of every tree is coated with powered sugar and held in suspension:
One word to describe the scenery is white:
With our recent 45cm dumping of snow, it's hard walking outside, but Cooper and I ventured up the hedgerow:
Coop's having a hard time managing.  To compensate for the deep snow, he needs to take flying leaps to plow his way through.
He knows where the snow is shallower, though, and makes his way towards the edge of the barn.  Once there, he turned to face the hedgerow and let out a big bark.  I know just how he feels...

The scenery is glorious...

...and the textures of trees and branches and vines look incredible with their coating of frost.

With more snow on the way, it's a winter wonderland of majestical proportions.

Hoarfrost sure is pretty. And dogs sure are funny, hopping like rabbits through the deep snow. :)

When I don't have to drive in the stuff, snow is lot more fun.

Today was a really great showing, then a light breeze came through and blew everything down. Now it's snowing...again...and we're back to winter wonderland.

I don't mind driving in the stuff. What I mind are other drivers driving in the stuff LOL. If I had the roads to myself, there'd be no worries.

Cooper sure is funny. The bunny-hop is the only way to get through snow as deep as we have. In the wind shadow of the hedgerow, we can both manage OK, but over open fields it's a bit more challenging. I'm going to have Eric drive a nice path through the fields with the tractor soon. I keep meaning to buy snowshoes, but like my cross-country skis, I fear they won't get much use...

Enjoy your snow while it lasts!

It's just gorgeous! Ans one of the best things about walking in the snow is the hot chocolate that comes afterwards...

LOL, Miriam, that's the spirit!

But today, with a windchill of -22C and a WICKED wind blowing, there's no walking outside! I just brought some wood in, and it's FREEZING out there, I'm thinking of knitting a balaclava...

That is so beautiful. My parents live up in a higher elevation so growing up I would get a little snow to play in a few times a year. It never lasted but it was still fun. Now that Lee and I live in the low valley we barely get any. Its kinda a bummer since I LOVE snow.

Robin, it was glorious! It's days like that that make me realize why I hang around in this infernal climate... This morning the windchill is -20C, and while it's nice and sunny, even the dog doesn't want to go far in those temps. It sure is cozy inside, though!

snow covered scenery is so nice..it is too bad snow is such a pain in the ass...but it really does cut down on the fall raking chores.

Yeah, and it cuts down on lawn-mowing, plus there are no mosquitoes. I love winter, lalalalalalala...
